Stick a FORK in the word custom and go with Adaptable…..Part 3

Adaptable, Scalable, Salesforce

Every business is doing its best to answer the question, how do we grow?

  • Do we need to hire more people?
  • Do we need to buy another system?
  • Do we buy a competitor?

Hiring more people is more time and more money.  Buying another system means more money but also less time in another system thus adding to your tech deck.  Buying a competitor is also more money and new employees are used to a different set of systems.

There is a story about a guy who buys a mansion and one day he walks up the stairs and looks down one of the hallways.  That hallway has over 10 bedrooms and who knows how many bathrooms.  He has to admit that he doesn’t even know what is down there and doesn’t care.  It was hard to accept that he got what he wanted but he just wasn’t in a place to use all that it had to offer.

This situation is what I see with so many “so-called” custom software.  There isn’t a software out there that is everything for everyone in any industry.

If your company wants to grow, would you hire 10 people when you only needed 2? Of course not, You are going to hire and buy what is needed to move forward.  You wouldn’t over-extend yourself that way.

Then why do we do it with software?  Why do we buy something that does so much? We hope we will use all of it “at some point,” but studies show that you will start to max out adaptability near the 30% mark.  As that software grows, will you grow to use more?

Most software is “scalable” as long as you are scaling using the tools and systems the way that the creator sees your business.  That doesn’t make it a bad software, it is just means you are trying to fit a square peg in a a rodeo arena.

Everyone sees a problem differently based on our background.  That is why Salesforce is such a great tool as long as you work with someone that wants to work along side of you.

At BlueQuill Solutions we want to get you started with a system that fits you right now but can also grow with you and all that you need.  Scalability is one thing but adaptability is the most important reason.  Your business is growing and will need to adapt to the ever-changing world.  I can’t tell you what your business is going to look like and where revenue will come from a year from now so why would I try and create a solution that does?  We want to grow with you. We believe in adaptability because growth without restrictions or waste is true scalability.

If that sounds like something you would like to consider, then give us a call. We would love to hear about your business and see if we can be part of the team to help you reach your goals.
